Two Rivers Marketing, a full-service marketing agency, was recently selected as one of OUTSIDE’s Best Places to Work 2014 for the second year in a row. Each year, OUTSIDE recognizes the top 100 companies in the United States that help their employees strike the ideal balance between work and play. These companies encourage employees to lead an active lifestyle, are eco-conscious and prioritize giving back to the community.
“We’re excited to once again be recognized by OUTSIDE as a top place to work in the country,” said Barry Bruner, senior group director at Two Rivers Marketing. “We continue to put more focus on work-life balance, a healthy environment and having fun at our agency. Energized, happy associates excel at their work, and we recognize that this engagement has contributed to our success year after year.”
Since opening its doors in 2000, the agency has focused on putting its associates first, with the belief that doing so would ensure innovative solutions for its clients. Associates enjoy flexible summer hours, extended lunches and continuing education opportunities. Associates can also take advantage of the abundance of running and bike trails around Des Moines’ Historic East Village neighborhood. Our focus on associates has allowed Two Rivers Marketing to create a vibrant employee culture while also building a strong reputation in the business-to-business marketing industry.
Associates are encouraged to give back to the community and do so each year by contributing their time and resources to a variety of causes. This year, associates participated in a Plane Pull benefiting Special Olympics Iowa, organized a silent auction for the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.
The agency hosts several events throughout the year, including an I-Cubs baseball game outing, a golf tournament, a chili cook-off and a holiday potluck. Other traditions include framed caricatures to celebrate associates’ one-year anniversaries, chocolate chip cookies to announce that an associate is expecting and Rec Fridays, where associates are encouraged to socialize for the last hour of the workday.
“As our agency continues to grow, we encourage new associates to share their ideas and interests with others,” Bruner said. “This helps us create a dynamic and positive associate experience.”
To find the best places to work, OUTSIDE conducted a rigorous eight-month vetting process in partnership with the Best Companies Group to assess the policies, practices and demographics of hundreds of companies, going straight to the employees to gauge factors like corporate culture, role satisfaction, work environment and overall employee engagement. The Best Places to Work list represents the cream of the crop: companies who cultivate a comfortable and collaborative workplace, enable their employees to enjoy the great outdoors and take pride in their roles in the community and the environment.
“If you’re considering a career change or searching for your dream job, OUTSIDE’s Best Places to Work list is the first place to look,” said Michael Roberts, OUTSIDE executive editor. “These companies set the standard for workplaces that really value their employees and offer an experience that’s fulfilling inside and outside the office.”
